Church Notes

Anglican

THIS week about 50 people celebrated Shrove Tuesday by having a pancake dinner in the Function Centre.

This meal is an acknowledgment of the traditional clearing out of all the rich foods in the pantry in preparation for Lent, the disciplined season before Easter. Thank you to Keith and all the helpers who enabled this event to occur.

On Wednesday many people attended either of the Ash Wednesday services, where participants are signed with ashes in the sign of the cross, an outward symbol of their faith in Christ.

Part of Lent is to learn more, to reflect on our faith, and to this end there is a bible discussion on Wednesdays at 10am and another on Sundays at 5pm. Add your name to the list if you would like to join in.

Thank you to all those who faithfully pray for the wellbeing of others. This is a personal commitment that is felt and very valued by the recipients, Rev Denis and Helen being two of them who have been recently blessed in this way.

Grain Shed

IT wouldn’t be the Mallee without some hot days in summer and yes, they are with us.

A big thank you to all who stayed around and ate a pancake or two last Sunday for the GMP Syria/Turkey earthquake appeal. It was a great success and a note of appreciation to all who helped in the kitchen and surrounds.

Tonight our Grain Shed youth meet at 7pm. This is open to all secondary school students looking for a fun activity on a Friday night. Contact youth@thegrainshed.org.au for more details.

Sunday 10am, Pastor La’Mont is back on the platform. Come along, bring a friend and share a cuppa after in fellowship. Grainshed kids desk is open from 9.45am, for children three years and over, primary school students.

Monday 10am-11.30am is our mainly music program. A wonderful interactive musical activity for little ones not at school with a parent/grandparent/carer.

Contact robyn.carson@thegrainshed.org.au or call 5032 9449 for more information.

Thursday 10am our craft ladies get together and become creative, always over a good coffee.

Save the date: Friday March 3, 10am at the Catholic Church, “World Day of Prayer 2023”. Taiwan. Saturday, March 4, 10am to 4pm, “Gather” – come and join in the fun as everybody brings their own craft project and sits around and chats. Morning tea and lunch provided.
