Church notes

Anglican

THE season of Lent began this week, in preparation for Easter.

A large crowd enjoyed a pancake dinner for Shrove Tuesday, historically a time to use up all the rich foods in the pantry.

On Wednesday, more people worshipped at the Ash Wednesday services, beginning our weeks of reflecting on our way of living, our faith and all that God and Jesus has given us.

Lenten studies will be held throughout these weeks in both Nyah West and Swan Hill.

The Nyah West Op Shop has altered its opening hours. It is now open on Mondays and Fridays, from 10am until 4pm. Loads of bargains are available, so come and have a browse.

This Saturday is the monthly boot sale at both the Swan Hill hall and behind Anglicare.

There will be loads of bargains, scones, honey, plants, barbecue and a cuppa. See you there.

Grain Shed

WHAT a great week this has been at the Grain Shed and really aligning with the message that pastors Shayne and Emily have shared in their series From House to Home, exploring the profound meaning behind Psalm 23 and how it resonates with our understanding of the church as a spiritual home.

Just as the psalm describes God’s provision of protection, belonging, and dedication, so too do we find these qualities within the walls of our church.

It is a place where we are known, where we belong, and where we choose to dedicate ourselves to God’s service.

Reflect on the theme of dedication as outlined in Psalm 92. Like trees planted by rivers, our roots stretch out into the life-giving source of God’s love and grace.

Through our dedication to His word and His will, we become vessels of His shepherding and shading, providing shelter and support to those in need.

Last Saturday, 40 women got together at the gather event with their craft projects, chatting, enjoying morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea (for those who still had room). Thank you to Sal and Helen for organising and Rick, Angus and Gwen in the kitchen.

On Sunday we had a baby dedication, followed by a light lunch provided by the family after the service and then, on Tuesday, we helped Sunrise Rotary hold its successful fundraising trivia night.

A big shout out to all the volunteers who helped in preparing and serving, merci beaucoup.

On Sunday, come along and join us. At 10am our doors are open and all are welcome. Matt Grierson will be bringing us a message sure to bring reflection.

For the children, the Grain Shed kids’ team is waiting to check you in.

On Monday, our Mainly Music program starts at 10am.

This is a 30-minute interactive music session for little ones with mums, dads, grandparents or carers, followed by morning tea and play time.

If you are interested, contact Robyn.carson@thegrainshed.org.au or call 5032 9449.

On Thursday 10am our craft ladies meet, share over a nice drink and even do some craft.
