Church Notes, August 30

The Grain Shed

A reminder for the Gather Day – tomorrow from 10am to 4pm at the Grain Shed. Morning tea and lunch is provided with a gold coin donation to cover costs. You ask, what is it? It is a day where women gather with their craft projects, or just come along to hang out, sit, eat good food and have a wonderful hour, or stay for the day.

Last Sunday Pastor Jodi finished with some GRIT in the series Healthy Hearts, reminding us not to quit too early and start small with grace, resilience, integrity and teachability. We need GRIT to maintain traction, not lose control and keeping our eyes on Jesus is the way.

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

“Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”

2 Corinthians 12:9

This Sunday, happy Father’s Day to all you who play a fatherly role in the lives of your children, family, friends and work.

Our doors are open from 10am this Sunday and please, feel free to invite a friend to come along, stay after, in a time of fellowship. Matt Grierson will be on the platform sharing an amazing message.

Grain Shed Kids can check in from 9.45am. A big thank-you to all the leaders, student leaders and helpers: your work doesn’t go unnoticed and you only have to watch the kids, they are having so much fun while learning about Jesus.

Monday is Mainly Music. Our session runs from 10 to 11.30am.

Thursday our craft ladies meet with their projects 10am to noon.

Now is the time with Christmas coming to get boxes filled for the Operation Christmas Child shoe-box appeal. We do have shoe boxes and information available at the information desk.

Anglican Church

TO celebrate fathers, and all those who act as fathers to others, Rev Julie tells us she will have a surprise for each father or father figure in church on Sunday … “but it’s not a bribe!” Come and join us when we sincerely give thanks for all the earthly father figures who care for others, as well as recognise our Father in heaven, who always cares for us.

Apart from the regular weekly events, this week there will be the monthly Cursillo group reunion on Monday, a time of reflection and growing. Rev Julie would like to hear from you if you would like to be part of a morning or evening prayer during the week, a prayer or praise time. Julie is enjoying Swan Hill and getting to know the congregations and the area.

Now that Julie and Rev Denis have had a couple of weeks working together, Denis is taking a well earned break and will officially be on leave for September. Please contact Julie or the office and we’ll proceed from there.
