Church Notes

Anglican

AT our Parish Service last week, Rev Julie introduced some new wording and songs, which was appreciated. After the service, all enjoyed a shared picnic lunch, with lots of mixing and conversations.

Anglican services have begun again at Swan Hill’s aged care homes. You might like to join in with a resident you know.

On Friday and Saturday Anglican and Uniting Church members are manning the horse gate at the Show. This community support task also raises money for the work of the churches here.

After a late start to church last week, we need to be up “an hour earlier” on Sunday for a 9.30am start, as daylight saving will be operating. If you are late, you can at least enjoy the cuppa after church!

Note: The Op Shop will be closed today due to the above work, a church funeral and the community attending the Show.

Grain Shed

WELL, where has the year gone? It is Swan Hill Show weekend and to end it, daylight saving kicks in on Sunday. Just a reminder to set the clock back Saturday night or you may get the tail end of worship in the service Sunday.

Yes, every Sunday at 10am our service begins. Open to all, invite a friend or family to join us and stay around afterwards in fellowship. Pastor Shayne will continue in the series ‘I believe in you’.

Last Sunday he shared how our time is now to do something for the next generation. Jesus and Paul showed us how to invest in them – building a spiritual family that lasts.

“Even if you had ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel. Therefore I urge you to imitate me. For this reason I have sent to you Timothy, my son whom I love, who is faithful in the Lord. He will remind you of my way of life in Christ Jesus, which agrees with what I teach everywhere in every church.” 1 Corinthians 4:15-17

Grain Shed Kids will be back Sunday, October 13.

Mainly music will recommence for Term 4, not this Monday but Monday, October 14 at 10am.

Our craft ladies meet Thursday 10am to 12pm. Always up for a laugh and a good chat – oh, and some craft work too.

Saturday, October 26, save the date as there will be a Harvest Of Hope, Quilts of the Grain Shed exposition, 10am to 5pm, $5 entry and all proceeds going to our Hampers of Hope. Food will be on sale at the cafe.

There is still time to pick up and fill shoeboxes in for the Operation Christmas Child Shoebox appeal. These will be sent to children in need around the world, blessing and bringing them joy.
