New footage in Jeremiah search

NEW footage has been released as Queensland Police continue to investigate the suspicious disappearance of 27-year-old East Kimberley man Jeremiah Rivers.

Mr Rivers was making his way home to the Northern Territory from Balranald, where he was one of four reserve players from Darwin for the Balranald Roos AFL side, when he vanished.

The most recent footage has been released in the hopes of locating occupants of a vehicle believed to have been travelling near Noccundra last month close to where Mr Rivers was last seen on the morning of October 18.

The footage features a white Ford Focus bearing Queensland registration 600SZJ and its occupants were involved in a number of fuel drive offs at a service station on Murilla Street in Miles between 8.30pm and 9.30pm on October 18.

The same vehicle was then seen leaving a Stafford Street service station in Thargomindah the following day on October 19 around 11.50am.

Police are seeking public assistance to identify the vehicle’s occupants or anyone who may have observed the Ford Focus travelling around South Western Queensland as they may have information to assist.

The vehicle has since been located in Coomera and seized.

Evidence continues to be analysed and evaluated against new information that is received.

Investigators are attempting to identify all persons who were in the Wippo Creek – Noccundra area or may have travelled through western NSW and Queensland to Noccundra from October 16 to October 19 and are asking for those persons to make contact with police and provide details.

Police say Mr Rivers was last seen walking away from a group with whom he was camping near Wippo Creek.

A GoFundMe page started by Mr Rivers’ mother Joanne Rivers has more than tripled its goal – raising over $16,000 at the time of printing.

These funds will help family members travel to Thargomindah from WA and NT to assist the authorities in the search.

On October 25, Ms Rivers said that the search and rescue team had left following an extensive field and air search, with eight family members still searching the local area.
