Operation nabs six

SIX people are expected to be charged with a string of offences after 10 properties were searched across the region.

Swan Hill police and specialist units conducted a firearms prohibition order (FPO) compliance operation across the Swan Hill and Gannawarra areas last week.

Detectives from Swan Hill Crime Investigation Unit, Western Region Crime Squad with support from the Dog Squad, Swan Hill Divisional Firearm Officer (DFO) and uniform members from Swan Hill, Kerang, Quambatook and Cohuna searched 10 properties in Swan Hill, Kerang, Quambatook, Cohuna and Leitchville between January 25 and January 26.

During the searches, officers seized an imitation firearm with ammunition as well as numerous illicit drugs including cannabis, GHB and methylamphetamine.

Six people were expected to be charged with a range of offences, including possess imitation firearm and various drug possession offences as a result of the operation.

Fire ignited during restrictions

A MAN will appear in court after allegedly igniting a fire in his backyard in Robinvale late last month.

Police and CFA attended a home in George Street, Robinvale about 1.30pm on January 28 after reports of a fire.

The occupant had started a fire in his backyard to burn rubbish.

This was in contravention to fire restrictions.

He will receive a summons to appear in court at a later date.

Forced entry

OFFENDERS are being hunted after they attempted to gain entry to a home in Robinvale recently.

The Ronald Street home fell victim between December 19 and January 25.

Police said damage was caused, but it appeared no entry was gained.

Lake Powell fire

EMERGENCY services were called to a fire at Lake Powell, north of Swan Hill, on January 23.

The fire, off the Murray Valley Highway, appeared to have started when the wheel of a trailer broke.

House targeted

POLICE are investigating after offenders caused damage and attempted to gain entry to a Swan Hill house last month.

The incident happened between 9pm and 11pm on January 30, when offenders attended a home in Miles Court, Swan Hill.

They caused damage and attempted to gain entry.

Tyres slashed

TYRES of a car were allegedly slashed while parked outside a Swan Hill property.

The vehicle was parked on the nature strip in Chapman Street on January 27.

It appeared that two tyres were slashed/stabbed.

Online scam

A LOCAL has fallen victim to an online sale prank.

Police said the victim paid a deposit on the vehicle that had been advertised for sale on social media.

When they attended the given address to complete the transaction, they found that the address was incorrect and the transaction was fraudulent.
