Scammers strike again

Concrete scam

A LOCAL man has lost thousands of dollars to a concreting scam.

Police said during a period of a week from August 22, the victim engaged in what he thought was a concrete company which he had organised to come and do concreting work at a Tyntynder address.

The so-called owner of the company asked for a part payment before starting the concrete work.

Thousands of dollars were forwarded for part payment.

A further payment was asked for re-accommodation for workers who would be attending. Further money was sent by the victim.

The workers never attended as the concrete company was a scam.

A police spokesperson urged people to be cautious when sending money to companies they don’t normally deal with.

Offender flees

A MAN allegedly attempted to steal a vehicle in Wycheproof last week.

Police said the vehicle was parked in Broadway Street, when the thief tried to steal it about 11.30pm on August 27.

“The victim has heard the offender trying to start the vehicle and has come out to see offender run from the victim’s car,” a police spokesperson said.

The offender jumped into a red Corolla or similar and sped off north along Calder Highway. Police are following leads.

Drugs seized

AN amount of illicit drugs were located at a Swan Hill address last week.

Police attended a Hobson Road address about 9.30am on August 26 where a firearms prohibitions order search was undertaken.

An amount of illicit drugs (namely white crystal) was located.

A man at the home will be interviewed by police.

Car search

THREE people acting “suspiciously” were allegedly caught with drugs and cash by police last week.

Police observed a Holden Commodore in McBain Street about 8.45pm on August 27.

A search was conducted on the vehicle and a quantity of drugs and cash were located.

A female was arrested and taken to Swan Hill police station amd charged with various offences.

TV stolen

WITNESSES are wanted to the theft of a television from a Swan Hill address.

The flat screen television was removed some time between August 25 and 26 from a Makepeace St home.

Police are calling for any witnesses.

Ute targeted

CCTV footage is being scrutinised after a retractable lead was allegedly removed from rear of ute in Swan Hill.

The victim was parked in Rutherford Street and went shopping between 5.30pm and 6.30pm on August 25.

Whilst away from the vehicle, offender/s have made their move.

Police said they were gathering CCTV footage. Tradies and farmers have been urged to secure their tools if away from their vehicle.

Shoplifter caught

A shoplifter was arrested at a grocery store in Swan Hill last week.

A male offender entered the Campbell Street store some time between 5pm and 5.45pm on August 25.

The offender selected two bottles of alcohol and a quantity of meat, before walking out of the store without paying for items.

The male offender was located, arrested and charged.

“Dishonest people need to change their poor behaviour,” a police spokesperson said.
