Thieves evade tractor blockade

A VEHICLE has been stolen from a Tresco property after the victim tried to block the thieves in the driveway with her tractor.

The victim was slashing grass near her home, when she was alerted to a stolen silver Holden Captiva at her house about 1.13pm on September 12.

She tried to block the exit of the Captiva with her tractor until she verified who it was.

The thieves drove to a nearby shed and stole the victim’s white Ford Ranger.

Both vehicles evaded the victim and her tractor.

The stolen vehicles were last seen heading south along Bael Bael Road, Tresco.

The silver Captiva was located a short time later in the vicinity. The Ford Ranger is still missing.

Food stolen

PEOPLE known to police have been accused of stealing food from an accommodation business in Nyah West earlier this month.

The male and female offenders entered the Station Street business about 1am on September 11.

They stole food from the fridge in the shared kitchen area.

Police said the offenders would be arrested in coming days.

Bungled burn-off

A ROBINVALE house was extensively damaged after the homeowner left his burn-off unattended.

The owner of the Crete Road property was burning tree prunings and leaves about 10.30am on September 14.

The owner of the property had left the fire for a short time to attend another address.

He was contacted by a neighbour who alerted him to the fire spreading to his home.

The CFA attended to extinguish the fire, which resulted in extensive damage.

Weapon scare

A MAN threatened police with an edged weapon while refusing to let officers enter his home in Swan Hill earlier this week.

Police attended a Chapman Street address to arrest the male occupant about 10.20pm on September 17.

“He refused to let police in, who then promptly gained access through a window and found the male, who was brandishing an edged weapon,” a police spokesperson said.

“The male was persuaded to drop the weapon and was arrested, cuffed and conveyed to Swan Hill police for processing.”

High ride

A BYCYLIST was allegedly in possession of cannabis while on a leisurely ride through Swan Hill earlier this month.

Two females were observed riding at the Gray and Yana streets intersection about 3am on September 16.

The females were spoken to due to appearing substance-effected.

A search recovered a small amount of cannabis. The female was taken to the Swan Hill police station for processing.Vandals strike

POLICE are investigating damage worth more than $4000 at Riverside Park in Swan Hill last week.

Two council rubbish bins were set alight and play equipment damaged some time between September 12 and 13.

Police are seeking assistance in identifying offenders.

Speeders nabbed

THREE drivers were caught speeding on local highways.

Highway patrol officers nabbed the drivers speeding through 40km/h sections on September 18.

All drivers were excepted to lose their licences
