Police on the scent

Police Beat

A BOTTLE of cologne was taken from a vehicle parked in a Robinvale street last week.

Police said entry was gained to a vehicle parked in Parke Street some time between 6pm last Friday and 6.20am the following day.

The bottle of cologne was the only item reported missing.

Phone scam

A SWAN Hill local fell victim to a phone scam and transferred a large amount of money.

The victim received several phone calls from someone purporting to be a bank investigator during a 24-hour period from 3pm on Thursday last week.

Police said they sounded “extremely” convincing.

“They stated they were investigating fraud and wanted to set a trap to catch the ‘wrong-doer’,” a police spokeswoman said.

They convinced the victim to transfer a large amount of cash into a nominated account.

“Please do not trust phone calls,” the spokeswoman said.

“If it is a bank-related matter, go into a branch or use a phone number that you know to be legitimate.”

Tools wanted

TOOLS were taken from a vehicle parked in the driveway of a Swan Hill address last week.

Police said entry was gained to two vehicles parked in Mulbar Street, between 11.30pm last Wednesday and 7am the following day.

Tools were missing from one of the vehicles, including a DeWalt laser level.

Meanwhile, tools including an angle grinder, impact driver and rattle gun were stolen from a vehicle parked at the Beverford boat ramp off Oswin Road.

Police said a window was smashed to gain access, between noon and 3pm last Monday.

Under pressure

POLICE are investigating forced entry to a Swan Hill business on June 20.

Offenders were alleged to have gained access to the Chapman Street address in the early hours, removing a cleaner pressure from the business, which was found outside.
