A NYAH West man is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after striking a car while allegedly evading police in Tyntynder on Monday night.
Police say they sighted a motorcyclist travelling at high speed on the Murray Valley Highway, between Nyah West and Swan Hill, at about 6.25pm.
They say the male rider evaded police and officers lost sight of the motorbike.
It is understood that a short time later the motorcyclist collided with a car at the intersection of the Murray Valley Highway and Tyntynder Road.
The rider, a 20-year-old Nyah West man, was airlifted to The Alfred in a critical condition with upper and lower body injuries.
The driver of the car, a 30-year-old Swan Hill man, was not injured and stopped at the scene.
Police are continuing to work to establish the exact cause of the collision and the investigation is ongoing.
The Alfred has been asked for an update on the condition of the rider.
