Man dies in Murray Valley Highway crash

A MAN was killed in a two-car collision at Lake Powell, north of Swan Hill, on Wednesday.

The collision happened on the Murray Valley Highway, near the intersection of Zara Lane, about 4.30pm.

The man driving one of the cars, who was yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.

The driver of the second car was assisting police with enquiries.

Meanwhile, police were continuing to investigate a collision in Tyntynder on Monday last week.

Police said a motorcyclist was travelling at high speed on the Murray Valley Highway, between Nyah West and Swan Hill.

The man evaded police before they lost sight of the motorbike.

It is understood a short time later the motorcyclist and the car collided at the intersection of the Murray Valley Highway and Tyntynder Road.

The 20-year-old Nyah West rider was flown to The Alfred hospital in a critical condition with upper and lower-body injuries.

The driver of the car, a 30-year-old Swan Hill man, was not injured and stopped at the scene.

Anyone who witnessed either collisions, has dashcam or CCTV footage, or information, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au

This year’s Victorian road toll stood at 164, compared to 125 for the same period in 2022.
