Police beat: Licence scam

Licence scam

AN unsuspecting victim has fallen to a driver’s licence scam on social media.

Police said the victim saw an advertisement on a Facebook page, purporting to assisting those with an international licence gain a Victorian licence.

The victim thought he had made all of the appropriate checks but it turned out it was a scam.

“Please get the message out about this scam,” a police spokeswoman said.

“The only way you can change your licence over is to do so through VicRoads.”

Cash missing

A TAXI passenger lost cash after it fell out of his pocket, police say.

The victim caught a taxi home in Swan Hill about midnight on July 30, when he noticed the missing cash.

Police said they were making enquiries about other passengers that may have used this taxi, but reminded that it was an offence to “find” something of value and not make reasonable steps to locate the owner.
