Key to more problems
AN alleged car thief didn’t seem to get far after snatching keys from a Swan Hill supermarket trolley.
Police said a victim had their car keys stolen by a male while shopping at about 6pm on Tuesday last week.
It was alleged the man who took the keys then found the car in the supermarket’s carpark and stole it.
Police said that while being driven off, the car crashed at the intersection of Rutherford and Beveridge streets.
The driver was seen by two witnesses running from the scene.
Forced entry
A FRONT glass panel of a supermarket in Beveridge Street was smashed between Friday and Saturday last week.
Police said it appeared cash was the target, but none was taken.
Weapons found
POLICE arrested a man in Swan Hill last Friday at about 1am, after a search found he was in possession of a pair of knuckle dusters, a box cutter knife and a sheathed metal knife.
Supermarket dash
A MAN snatched a carton of cigarettes and ran off from a Swan Hill supermarket at 6.20pm on Tuesday last week, police said.
The man was allegedly asked to provide proof of purchase of a bag of unpaid shopping after approaching the cigarettes counter and refused.
Counterfeit cash
THE occupant of a vehicle travelling on the Sea Lake Road, south of Robinvale, was arrested after police detected a strong smell of cannabis from within the vehicle.
Police said they found a quantity of green vegetable matter and an amount of poor-quality counterfeit cash when searching the vehicle.
Failure to stop
A MITSUBISHI driver allegedly failed to pull over along the Murray Valley Highway at Boundary Bend after being detected travelling at 130km/h in a 100km/h zone about 6.45pm on Wednesday last week.
Police said they obtained registration details and attended the owner’s address the next day.
The driver allegedly told the officers: “I didn’t hear or see the police.”
Cash registers targeted
A MALE went to a Robinvale supermarket on December 9 and attempted to open the cash register on multiple occasions, but was disturbed by staff twice, according to police.
The alleged offender then attended a local liquor drive-through and attempted to open the register while the attendant was busy.
Nothing was stolen on either occasion.
