190km/h on city street

SWAN Hill Highway Patrol are looking for witnesses to a motorcyclist seen riding at recklessly high speeds around Swan Hill.

Police are investigating a young man who was allegedly speeding on Campbell Street on a white Kawasaki, at an estimated speed of 190km/h, on January 30-31 between 8pm and 9.30pm.

Officers were alerted last week after a video of the reckless rider was circulated on social media.

A 20-year-old Swan Hill man has been charged with reckless conduct endangering life, dangerous speed, and other traffic offences and have also seized his motorcycle.

Senior Constable David Healy wants witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to contact police.

“It concerns me greatly,” Sen-Constable Healy said.

“I’ve got family in town and the last thing I want is to have someone riding in that manner, potentially injuring or killing someone that I know.”

“He was riding at a very dangerous speed at a very populated area of Campbell Street.”

Further investigations are being conducted by the police and the man will appear in court at a later date to answer charges.

Anyone who has witnessed the motorcyclist speeding excessively, or has dash-cam footage is urged to contact Senior Constable Healy at the Swan Hill Highway Patrol on 5036 1600.
