Police round-up

A HIGH school student was punched in the face in an unprovoked attack in Swan Hill earlier this month.

Swan Hill police said two teenage girls were walking to school on Stradbroke Avenue, about 8.30am on May 6, near Alan Garden Reserve.

They observed a female who appeared to be on her phone yelling and behaving erratically.

The female crossed the road and approached the pair before she punched one of the students in the face.

A member of the public stopped her vehicle after witnessing the altercation and helped the victims.

The offender was not known to the girls.

She was described as approximately 16-18 years old and of olive complexion. She was wearing a red/maroon hoodie with the hood up.

A SWAN Hill retail worker was punched in the face by an aggrieved customer.

Police said a man in his early 20s entered the pharmacy about noon on May 6.

“For some reason … he has taken exception to an employee working behind the counter,” a police spokesperson said.

“The offender has gone behind the counter engaging in a verbal altercation and then punching the worker.”

The offender was arrested at the scene. A brief of evidence is being prepared for court.

AN elderly man was pushed to the ground after a confrontation with a driver at a Swan Hill supermarket car park.

Police said the 75-year-old victim was driving east on Pritchard Street being tailgated by a dark coloured utility, about 3pm on May 9.

The victim turned onto Beveridge Street, into Woolworths, but was pursued.

The victim and offender exchanged words before the offender got out of his vehicle and pushed the victim forcefully causing him to fall over.

The offender then got into his vehicle and fled towards Campbell Street.

The victim sustained a cut to his elbow and soreness to his hip and buttock area.

CCTV and witnesses identified the offender, who was interviewed by police.

A brief of evidence is being prepared for unlawful assault.
