A FIRE that destroyed a home on Cadel Street Swan Hill soon after midnight on Monday February 17 has been deemed not suspicious.
Swan Hill Police Acting Inspector Brian Hansen said no one was injured and the occupant was assisting investigators with their enquiries.
“Investigators will be conducting forensic examinations onsite, and at this stage we are unable to determine the cause of the fire,” he said.
Swan Hill Fire Brigade Captain Harold Jochs said fire investigators were onsite on Monday to determine the cause.
“When the fire brigade arrived about 12:45am the front bedroom and loungeroom were well consumed by fire as no one spotted it until very late when it broke through the ceiling,” he said.
“We believe the fire started in the main bedroom, and by the time someone noticed it, the fire had taken hold of the premises.”
Five CFA units responded including three Swan Hill units and one each from Lake Boga and Woorinen South responded and had the fire under control in half an hour.
