Muscat keen to make a difference

JENNIFER Muscat believes she brings a fresh perspective to the region.

She escaped the hustle and bustle of the city, moving to Sea Lake, 18 months ago.

“I’ve always loved regional Victoria and country life, and fell in love with Sea Lake,” she said.

She loves the sense of community spirit within the town and has met a range of locals and tourists since opening her shop in the main street.

Embracing the tree change, Ms Muscat joined Advance Sea Lake Inc to help Sea Lake thrive, and make a difference to the town she now calls home.

While her involvement with Advance Sea Lake Inc has been a step in the right direction, Ms Muscat believes the timing is perfect for her to continue to make a difference within the local community, but on a larger scale.

“I felt like I want to do more to help people,” Ms Muscat said.

“The opportunity to run for council has come along and I feel I’m ready to take on this next step.”

She’s passionate about a range of issues, and if elected is ready to hit the ground running.

Her visions include the introduction of work experience programs to help bolster employment opportunities, while encouraging mobile hubs for community support services.

Supporting the business, tourism and agricultural sectors, while reviving the Mallee Rally are just a few of the issues she would like to explore if elected.

“The history of Sea Lake is the Mallee Rally and I’ll be advocating to make sure it doesn’t end up in the too hard basket,” she said.

She believes tourism is what the town needs to ensure its survival.

“We have the lake and beautiful silo art at our doorstep,” she said.

“If you love your town and way of life, you have to keep progressing.

“Just because you live in a small town, doesn’t mean you have to miss out on essential services.”
