THE National Party has launched an online petition seeking signatures from people intending to vote “no” on this year’s Voice to Parliament referendum, but only a handful its MPs have shared the petition on social media.
The petition is hosted on the We Are One & Free website, which is authorised by the National Party.
It claims that the Voice proposal “won’t close the gap”, “undermines our democracy” and “creates more red-tape and big city bureaucracy”.
The website and petition went live on Wednesday, April 5.
Member for Mallee Anne Webster is one of only three Nationals MPs who chose to share the petition on an official parliamentary Facebook page before the Easter break.
Her post read “we believe every Australian’s voice should be equal and we don’t need a bigger bureaucracy, just a better one.”
The other federal Nationals MPs who have shared the petition are party leader David Littleproud MP , Senator Perin Davey
The federal Nationals politicians who are yet to share the petition are Senator Bridget McKenzie, Kevin Hogan, Barnaby Joyce, Senator Susan McDonald, Darren Chester, Michael McCormack, Pat Conaghan, Michelle Landry, Mark Coulton, Sam Birrell, Colin Boyce, Senator Ross Cadell, Senator Matt Canavan, Senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price, David Gillespie, Llew O’Brien, Andrew Willcox and Keith Pitt.
