Nationals’ new state president

ARARAT Council Deputy Mayor Joanne Armstrong will soon assume the position as Victorian National Party president.

Ms Armstrong was the only candidate at the close of nominations last Friday.

Her position will be ratified at the party’s state conference in Bendigo on May 25.

Ms Armstong has helped guide the party as senior vice president for the past three years, including through the party’s successful elections in 2022, delivering The Nationals’ best state result since the 1940s.

“The Nationals are the only party that are truly dedicated to fighting for the needs of regional Victorians and I would encourage anyone who wants to see better outcomes for their communities to get involved,” she said.

Ms Armstrong succeeds Neil Pankhurst after eight years in the role.
