Continuing the fight

THE Federal election results had many implications for the Swan Hill and wider region and I am particularly grateful to have been returned before voting went to preferences and, therefore, with an increased majority as your Member for Mallee.

The Nationals now have a greater say in Canberra after this election and will keep fighting for regional Australians, particularly those facing the devastation of water buybacks in the Murray-Darling Basin.

Labor simply does not comprehend farming and irrigation and the communities that depend upon food production for survival.

I am absolutely committed to fight for you, for our farming communities and for the food, energy and healthcare you both deserve and can afford.

The $30 million Swan Hill emergency department I secured funding for during the Coalition’s time in government is just one example of The Nationals’ commitment to regional Australia.

I have been Shadow Assistant Minister for Regional Health for over two years now and regional Australia desperately needs health workers.

I will keep advocating for a dedicated focus on training our young people locally from school through to medical practice, nursing and other allied health qualifications.

Over $9 billion will be invested in Medicare during this term of Federal Government, something the Coalition supports because we know how desperately we need our fair share of health spending in regional Australia.

Mallee residents will sadly have to wait over 13 months for cost-of-living relief from the Labor Government.

If you’re an aged pensioner or don’t pay income tax, there is no meaningful relief in sight, which is a travesty.

Labor got away with breaking the promise they made 97 times prior to the last election to reduce energy bills by $275. Instead, power bills are up over $1000.

For now, the Robinvale-Euston sporting community will not get the new female-friendly changeroom facilities they deserve as the $500,000 I promised cannot come to fruition without a Coalition Government.

I will keep working with Swan Hill Rural City Council for this initiative and other Coalition-era projects, like the new Swan Hill bridge, to be delivered.
