Although the result didn’t go the way of the Matildas, losing 3-1, it was still a huge achievement to get as far as they did.
England are the European champions and it was always going to be a tough match.
Under-14s coach Ben Muir-Howie said the Matildas had inspired everyone that wants to kick a ball around.
“They see the impact that it has, they see the spotlight, they see what it can open up to,” Muir-Howie said.
“Hopefully, people will watch the Matildas and go you know what, I fancy playing that, I wouldn’t mind playing that.
“Next year we are looking for more players and more teams, especially both girls and boys at a junior level.
“It creates a really positive culture, it brings people together, it brings families together and it has a really great support network.
