Flyers back on home court

BOTH Swan Hill Flyers teams return to their home court on Sunday to host the Mildura Heat.

They will be crucial games for the Flyers’ men’s and women’s sides, who both hold a 1-3 win-loss record and enter this weekend underdogs.

The Heat teams got the better of the Flyers in the opening round of the season at Mildura’s Hothouse.

For the Swan Hill women, Sunday provides an opportunity to press their finals claims.

Mildura sit directly above them on the ladder and the Flyers’ last game was a 10-point win over the Macedon Ranges Rockies.

Talented youngster Scarlet Grey was the star a fortnight ago, posting a team-high 17 points, and will be one to watch again, along with Ava Crow, expected to return to the side.

It will be a much tougher proposition for the Swan Hill men, however, the Heat having gone from strength to strength since their opening game.

The visitors sit undefeated from five games and are atop the CBL North West ladder.

Swan Hill hope to regain the services of several key players after coach Steven Bowden and Lachlan Gardner missed the game against Macedon Ranges with injury.

Gardner is an important player for the Flyers, along with Lachlan Somerville and Matthew Gardner, the trio needing to be at their best to trouble the ladder-leaders.

The women tip off from 12pm, followed by the men at 2pm.
