Eleventh year a roaring success

SWAN Hill Basketball Association crowned seven new champions as the summer junior competition wrapped up on Wednesday night.

In the 11th year of competition, the association’s finale and presentation was supported by families and friends cheering from the sidelines.

MVP and coaches’ awards were handed out for all teams across the grades before the basketball action kicked off.

Due to player availability the under 17 girls played their final last week, which Trotters won 55-37.

The under 14 boys started the night off, as Fireflys ran away with the win, beating Saints 80-47.

It was Fireflys who were victorious in the under 12 girls’ competition, beating Untouchables 60-55.

Untouchables won their under 12 boys’ grand final over Saints 54-46.

A back-and-forth affair in the under 16 boys went the way of Swans, who defeated Saints 60-55.

Trotters claimed the under 15 girls’ final, defeating Untouchables 51-46.

Only a single point separated the under 19 boys, Saints fighting back late to beat Rebels 50-49.

Junior basketball will return to Swan Hill following a short break, with a winter competition expected to begin in May.
