FUTURE stars of basketball from Swan Hill and the surrounding region have put their best feet forward in the hopes of being selected for the Basketball Victoria’s Gold Nugget Camp.
Basketballers from Swan Hill, Mildura and Echuca travelled to Swan Hill Stadium, where they held their final future development program country academy training day earlier this month.
The basketballers were put through their paces, running through drills under the watchful eyes of some of the best junior basketball coaches in the region.
The regional academy runs for 20 weeks and focuses on the development of basketball skills for the under-14 athletes in their local regional area.
Athletes who earn their spot at the Gold Nugget Camp, to be held later this year, will look to impress and earn selection further along the development pathway.
The young basketballers will vie for selection in both the week-long Australian Country Junior Basketball Cup, and the first step on the high-performance pathway, the Southern Cross Challenge.
