Tigers get the job done

WITH challengers starting to bunch up immediately below it, Woorinen can’t afford to put a foot wrong right now.

The Mallee Eagles and Koondrook Barham are now just four points behind the Tigers, although a healthy percentage gives Woorinen an extra bit of breathing space ahead of September.

Potential elimination final opponent, Cohuna is just two points behind.

Woorinen did as it needed to on Saturday, controlling the tempo from the start against the Bulldogs.

The Tigers started strongly but with four goals from 11 scoring shots should have been further than five goals in front at the first change.

While the Dogs were able to add two goals in each of the second and fourth quarters, the Tigers found some consistency to record a 92-point win.

Doug Palmer and Jamie Nicholas managed three goals each, with a hat-trick to the tireless Brad Carroll meaning the trio shared the game-high mark.

Luke Brown was the only other goal scorer for the Dogs with a single, while two goals to each of Tim Gammon, Dwayne Hamlyn and Billy McInnes proved handy for Woorinen.

Marcus Wattie, Brock Storer and Josh Cheek were stoic on another long day for Tyntynder, while Matt Iannucci, Ben Heenan and Aaron Cadd again starred for the Dogs.
