Kangaroos player sanctioned

COHUNA player Joel Helman has been rubbed out for two weeks after he was found guilty of intentionally or carelessly engaging in rough conduct in round 11.

The incident, referred to the match review panel, happened during the Kangas’ 50-point win over Swan Hill in the Central Murray league on June 26.

Helman was offered a two-match set penalty, which he accepted.

He will miss Cohuna’s round seven and eight matches and will be eligible to return for their game against NNW United on July 17.

Meanwhile, in the Golden Rivers league, Andrew Bennett has been sidelined for one match after striking his opponent during their three-point win over Macorna on July 3.

He was found guilty of intentionally or carelessly striking another person, and a one-match ban offered and accepted.

Bennett will miss Ultima’s round 12 match against Hay and will be eligible to return for their game against Wandella on July 17.

The leagues also said as a result of the investigation from round two, Quambatook player Brayden Montebruno was referred to the independent tribunal to save charges of intentionally or carelessly striking another person, where he was found guilty.

A six-match suspension was applied.

Montebruno missed Quambatook’s round five and six matches, but due to the break in play given lockdown, Montebruno’s revised eligible return date is July 17 against Hay.

Macorna player Blake Crichton was suspended for five matches after he was found guilty by the independent tribunal of intentionally or carelessly striking another person during round five.

Crichton is eligible to return July 24, which is a bye.
