BOMBERS NEW PILOT

Logan Keighran will take over as senior coach of Wandella ahead of next year’s Golden Rivers Football Netball League season.

A premiership player with Kerang in 2014, Keighran crossed over to the Bombers prior to the 2020 season.

Keighran, who played eight games before a fractured cheekbone ended his season, will take over from Sam Taylor, who confirmed with The Guardian his intention to retire ahead of next year.

Taylor coached Wandella to second on the ladder, with an eight-win, three-loss record this season and leaves big shoes for Keighran to fill ahead of a huge season for the red and black.

KANGAS LOCK IN COACHES

Cohuna will be looking to continue the big steps forward they took in 2021, after locking in Neil Bradley to once again lead the Kangas next season.

Bradley will lead Cohuna for the third straight season, after taking the reins in 2019; and will be assisted by Tom Toma and Tyson Findlay, who have been appointed as joint assistant coaches for 2022.

The Kangas finished the home and away season on top of the ladder and were well positioned to win their clubs first Senior Central Murray Football Netball League premiership before the season was cancelled on August 27.

BLUES RE-SIGN

Murrabit have wasted no time in preparing for next season, with the Blues locking in joint coaches Leigh Millard and Mick O’Toole to lead them in 2022.

Millard returned to the club at the beginning of this season and after joining forces with O’Toole, led Murrabit’s seniors to sixth on the ladder with three wins from their eleven matches.

It’s not just the re-signing of their joint senior coaches that has the Blues faithful excited about the prospect of a successful 2022, with Marc O’Neill, Nathan O’Toole and Ben Gillingham all re-committing for next year, along with Bryden Turvey, Toby Gray and both Tom and Darcy Hetherington.

If Murrabit can get a full season out of the Hetherington boys, after both endured an injury interrupted 2021; and with Gillingham one of the most improved ruckman in the competition, along with leading midfielders O’Neill and O’Toole, next season is already looking bright for the boys in Royal Blue.
