SOMETHING TO CROWE ABOUT

A breakout season from key defender Cayden Crowe has seen him take home Tyntynder’s Seniors Best & Fairest award last weekend.

Crowe polled 119 votes from ten games to win the award by 16 votes from Runner-Up Marcus Wattie.

Patrick Crowe finished in third on 54 votes, while Dylan Smillie was four votes further back on 50.

Isaiah Bull capped off a fine first season back in the Red, White and Blue by rounding out the top five with 37 votes.

Paul Strugnell won the Reserves Best & Fairest, with Trae Atkinson finishing as Runner-Up.

The Colts Best & Fairest meanwhile was won by Tristan Dalbon, who finished on 106 votes, just two ahead of Liam White on 104 and Angus Crowe on 101.

Tyntynder’s A Grade Netball Best & Fairest was also a very exciting vote count, with Laura Anderson taking home the award, with Monica Ellis and Nicola Miliano finishing as joint Runner-Up’s; while Milly Op’t Hoog won the A Reserve B&F from Bridget King.

NEW PUPS JOIN KENNEL

While Tyntynder’s 2021 playing squad has been busy celebrating their end of year achievements, the clubs coaching and recruiting department have been busily working away at adding to their playing stocks for next season in recent weeks.

The Guardian can confirm that former Ultima coach Brodie Bennett, as well as Ultima midfielder Tom Bull will pull on the Bulldogs guernsey in 2022; while Tooleybuc-Manangatang utility Jackson Morris and former Tyntynder and current Sea Lake-Nandaly midfielder Kyle Brasser will also join the crew at the Alan Garden Reserve.

All four recruits, along with new coach Josh Stone, will add considerable depth to the Dogs squad next season, particularly through the midfield and up forward; which were two areas of weakness for Tyntynder this season.

NEW BLUE

While on the subject of new recruits, Murrabit have announced their first new signing ahead of next season, with renowned goal kicker Daniel Hovey set to pull on the Royal Blue jumper.

Hovey will be a welcome addition to Murrabit’s forward line and will likely showcase his strong overhead marking ability as well as his ability to consistently kick big bags of goals.

A proven goal kicker, Hovey won the Western Region Football League’s Division 3 Best & Fairest, as well as being named at Centre Half Forward in the WRFL Team of the Year in 2017, after kicking 58 goals for the Wyndham Suns.

As well as playing with the Wyndham Suns, Hovey has also spent time with Birregurra in the Colac & District FNL and Barwon Heads in the Bellarine FNL, where he kicked 240 goals between 2012 and 2014.
