BLUES BEST & FAIREST

MARC O’Neill’s consistent form across all eleven rounds of the GRFNL season saw him take home Murrabit’s Seniors Best & Fairest last Friday night.

O’Neill polled votes in every game except the Blues Round 4 loss to Quambatook, to end the count on 121 votes.

Running half back Brody Green finished as Runner-Up on 87 votes, while former Koondrook-Barham defender Michael Grant was just votes behind on 85.

Nathan O’Toole and Bryden Morison rounded out the senior’s top five with 54 and 46 votes respectively.

Darcy Gillen won the Blues Reserves Best & Fairest for 2021, polling 91 votes, with Nick Hein finishing as Runner-Up 21 votes behind.

Meanwhile Ashton Wood was declared the Under 17.5’s Best & Fairest, winning the award by just six votes from Archer McKnight.

After winning the Golden Rivers A Grade Netball Best & Fairest, Kalinda Stanton proved just how dominant a season she had, polling 20 votes out of a possible 27 to also win Murrabit’s A Grade Best & Fairest. Kayla Casey finished second on nine votes, and Elly Bookham was third with eight.

METHERELL TO JOIN KANGAS

FOLLOWING on from last week’s big signings, the Cohuna Kangas have continued to add to their already imposing playing list for next season, with a three-time North Bendigo Premiership player set to pull on the purple.

Metherell comes to the Kangas having spent the last nine seasons at North Bendigo in the HDFNL, winning premierships in 2015, 2016 and 2019 and will look to use his speed and superior foot skills to help set up play out of the defensive half of the ground for Cohuna.

Metherell’s signing comes on top of last week’s announcement that ruckman Ben Archard, midfielder Jarrod Findlay and key defender Brenton Conforti had all signed on with the Kangas for next season.RAIDERS RE-SIGNS PLAYERSHOT on the heels of Aaron Collins being announced as Koondrook-Barham’s new coach for next season, comes three very important re-signing’s for the River Raiders.

Reigning Senior’s Best & Fairest Jake Dick-O’Flaherty, hard-at-it midfielder Kal Huntly and swingman Col McVeigh have all put pen to paper and recommitted for the tricolours next season, in what will no doubt be the first step for the Raiders climb back up the ladder.
