Decision looms for Nullawill

THE Nullawil Football Netball Club will be forced to appeal to the regions governing body in order to move to the North Central Football League (NCFL) next season.

The Central Rivers Board rejected Nullawil’s application to leave the Golden Rivers Football Netball League, meaning if the Maroons wish to play in the NCFL in 2022, then the club will need to plead their case – and win – their appeal to the AFL Central Victoria Commission.

Central Rivers Chairman John Keely told The Guardian he was still hopeful that Nully would remain in the Golden Rivers for season 2022.

“We still see Nullawil as a valuable member of the Golden Rivers Football Netball League and we don’t want to lose them from our competition basically,” Keely said.

“The ball is in their court now – we hope they will reconsider but that is up to them.”

Nullawil must now appeal to the regional governing body, who will make a determination within 21 days of the appeal lodgement.

“We rejected their application to transfer to the North Central Football League – so the next process, if they (Nullawil) choose to go down that path, is they’ll have to appeal to the AFL Central Victoria Commission at a date to be set,” Keely said.

“They (Nullawil) have to lodge an appeal within seven days of being notified and they were notified last week.

“They’re aware of the time frames that they have to work within now – as yet we haven’t been notified that that’s happened, but I’m sure we will be if and when they lodge their appeal.”

Members of the Nullawil Football Netball Club voted back in October to leave the Golden Rivers Football Netball League and move to the North Central Football League.
