THOOLEN AND LEWIS SHARE MEDAL

TOBY Thoolen and Oscar Lewis were unable to be separated in Swan Hill’s Best & Fairest, which was held last weekend, with both players tying for the Dean Bennett Medal.

Thoolen had a sensational season in the ruck for the Swans and was one of the competition’s leading big men, while Lewis had an outstanding year off half-back, winning the Central Murray’s Rookie of the Year award in his first season in Maroon, while Swans’ joint coach Matthew Wade finished as runner-up.

Jack Fletcher won the reserves Best & Fairest, edging out Tom Spicer in a close vote count, while the colts Best & Fairest was won by Darby Meney, with Campbell Kelly finishing runner-up.

In the netball, Ingrid Condely won the Swans A grade Best & Fairest award from Arlee Bennett, while Julia Amezdroz took home the A reserve Best & Fairest. The B grade Best & Fairest was won by Karen Thamm, while there were joint winners once again in the B Reserve Best & Fairest count, with Milan McDonald and Ebony Matthews unable to be split.

MOULAMEIN RECRUITS

THE Moulamein Football Netball Club are turning their attention towards next season, with the return of a former player, as well as the recruitment of two promising young footballers.

Luke Shannon and Mason Bailey will come to the Swans in 2022, having played senior football with the Chelsea Seagulls in the Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League. Shannon, a midfielder/forward, played 34 senior games for the Seagulls – and has also played seniors with the Shepparton Bears and Griffith Swans, as well as having been a member of the GWS Academy program.

Bailey also played 34 senior games with the Chelsea Seagulls and will add further depth to Moulamein’s on-ball brigade, as will Cody Storm, who will also return to Moulamein for next season.
