Bendigo Pioneers Girls set to take field

BOTH the under-16 and under-18 Bendigo Pioneers Girls’ teams will get their 2022 NAB League seasons under way against the Murray Bushrangers in Yarrawonga Saturday, with a number of local juniors set to play in the opening game of the year.

Gaby Sanford, Sophie McClelland, Brydi Lewis and Sam Johnston will take to the field for the under-16’s Pioneers team, with the match to start at 11am. Following that game, the under-18s will take to the field for the first time in season 2022, with the Woorinen Youth Girls’ team’s Demi Greenwood set to pull on the Bendigo Pioneers jumper, with Gaby Sanford being named as an emergency.

The 2022 NAB League Girls competition is beginning earlier than usual, with the new dates now aligning it with the AFLW home and away season. The NAB League will play 10 home and away games, with the grand final currently set down for the weekend of April 9.
