THE EAGLE HAS LANDED

Tyntynder have continued their recruiting spree under new coach Josh Stone, with one of the leading key forwards in Country Victoria set to join the kennel in season 2022.

Jason Eagle will join the Doggies next season from Irymple, with the veteran forward having booted 22 goals from just six games last season.

The journeyman footballer boasts an impressive resume, including four premierships as well as representing both Queensland and Victoria Country across his career.

Having tormented back men for years, Eagle has also booted 100+ goals a season on four separate occasions and will fill a much-needed role in the Tyntynder forward line.

Joining Eagle in the red, white and blue this season will be Ultima key position player Josh Dwyer.

A two-time premiership player and three-time club best and fairest, Dwyer can play at either end of the ground and also pinch hit in the ruck, as he did at times with Ultima last season.

SAINTS RECRUITING SPREE CONTINUES

Tyntynder haven’t been the only Central Murray Football Netball League club who have spent the Christmas break busily recruiting, with Tooleybuc-Manangatang looking likely to be a big improver under new coach Dean Helmers this season.

The Saints have added two influential midfielders to their playing group, with Shylo Smith and Brayden Pitcher both signing on.

Smith spent last season with Hepburn in the Central Highlands Football League and comes to the club as a three-time premiership player with Deer Park and Doutta Stars, as well as having won the Essendon District Football League Division 1 League Medal in 2015.

Pitcher will join Smith in the midfield from Tasmanian State League side Launceston, where he played 16 games last season and has also played with the Tassie Mariners in the TAC Cup and the Tasmanian State Under 18’s.

While Smith and Pitcher will be donning the Tooleybuc-Manangatang jumper for the first time, three returning locals won’t be, with Alex Powell and the Grant brothers, Sam and Mitch, returning for 2022 to further enhance the Saints climb back up the ladder.

TIGERS DEN GROWS

Woorinen are looking to keep their premiership window open, announcing the signing of Rumbalara midfielder/forward Clayton McCartney recently.

McCartney comes to the Tigers having previously spent time with both Richmond and Frankston in the VFL and having also played TAC Cup football with the Sandringham Dragons.

McCartney has also won a club best and fairest at Rumbalara, as well as being their leading goalkicker in 2019 – and is sure to add some speed around the footy for the Tigers.

McCartney’s signing is in addition to that of key forward Tom Eltringham, who it was announced would be joining Woorinen in 2022 prior to Christmas – with both players helping to fill the void left by Josh Stone and Jamie Nicholas, who have gone to Tyntynder and Ultima respectively.
