Footy night feast begins

FOOTY is officially back, with the Emmetts Friday Night Footy and Netball Feast set to kick-off what’s hoped will be an uninterrupted year.

Eight local sides will have their first clashes for the year, and it will give them the opportunity to see where they are at following various pre-season programs.

Hosted by the Tyntynder Football Netball Club, the series gives local clubs a chance to get some match practice in before competitions commence at the start of April.

The series begins tonight, with another feast next Friday. Action begins at 6pm.

Tyntynder president Luke Kelly explained the format for the evening, as teams will clash over two 25-minute halves before rotating on the hour.

“This suits a lot of clubs as they are not looking for a full scale hit out,” he said.

“They are more looking for a bit of tune up and to blow the cobwebs off.”

Entry to the night will be via a gold coin donation and will be donated to local charity A Good Kitchen as well as the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.

Kelly is encouraging supporters to head along to the night and support the charities.

“We encourage everyone to help those charities out and donate a bit of money,” he said.
