Tigers girls set for elimination final

THE Woorinen Youth Girls team are playing finals this season, with the team set to meet Golden Square at Marist Main Oval on Sunday afternoon.

The Tigers finished the home-and-away season third on the ladder and will meet the Bulldogs in the knockout final, with the winner set to progress to meet the loser of the White Hills-Strathfieldsaye match.

Woorinen coach Jason Murphy told The Guardian his team were looking forward to the challenge of finals football – especially after not having won a game in their previous two seasons.

“There has been a massive buy into what I’ve put in place at the start of the season and the girls have improved every week,” Murphy said.

“It’s a great reward for effort to play finals – the way we are approaching it is that everything from here is a bonus, just go down there and rip into them and see what happens.”

With midfielders Carlee Hazlett and Kobe Davison leading the way and with Samantha Johnston, Jenna Bannam and half-back Brydi Lewis all in form, the Tigers will have confidence that their best football is capable of matching the better teams at the pointy end of the season.
