Trio sign at Demons

NYAH-Nyah West United are leaving no stone unturned in their quest to climb the Central Murray league ladder next season, signing three new players to the club, including two from rival clubs.

2019 Woorinen premiership player Dom Gallo and former Tyntynder forward Brayden Bigham will both don the red and blue in 2023, along with Kayne Davidson, who will join forces with brother Brady in a beefed-up Demons midfield.

Gallo will likely slot into NNW United’s forward line in his return from an injury-interrupted 2022 season, with the crumbing forward having played just three games for the Tigers due to injury. Gallo will return to the Demons having played a season of Colts football in 2017.

Bigham will return to the Central Murray next season having played 10 senior games with the Wagga Tigers in 2022, while Davidson comes to United having played the past four seasons for Harcourt in the Maryborough-Castlemaine District Football Netball League where he was an integral member of the Lions seniors premiership this year.


Raiders recruiting continues

ANOTHER club that will be looking to lift themselves out of the lower rungs of the Central Murray ladder next season will be Koondrook-Barham, with the Raiders also recently announcing a number of key signings ahead of next season.

Joining the River Raiders under new coach Will Callow will be former Sea Lake-Nandaly Tiger Bill Barry, Donald’s Scott Wood and former Irymple footballers Dom Cirillo and James Flack.

Barry will take on the role of senior assistant coach under Callow, having won four premierships with the Byron Bay Magpies in recent seasons.

He also played TAC Cup and VFL football early in his career and can play in any position on the ground.

Wood, on the other hand, will most likely play at full-back for the Raiders, having played over 200 senior games with Donald and Hepburn as a key defender.

Cirillo comes to the club from VAFA club Old Scotch after previously spending time with Callow at Irymple as a big-bodied midfielder, while Flack will also look to slot straight into Koondrook-Barham’s midfield.


Warren lands in Magpies nest

THE Queensland connection will continue at Lake Boga next season, with the Magpies signing another midfielder from up north last week.

Jake Warren joins Lake Boga having played in two premierships with the Maroochydore Football Club, while having also played VFL football with the Aspley Hornets in 2021 and should slot into a powerful Magpies midfield that will be looking to go a couple of steps further in 2023.
