Central Murray Football Preview: Koondrook-Barham v Balranald

KOONDROOK-BARHAM v BALRANALD

A DAVID v Goliath battle looms when Koondrook-Barham host a much-improved Balranald.

Unlike the story, there should be no upset tomorrow, after the Roos took over the mantle of No.2 seed last weekend with a 16-point win over fellow premiership contender Woorinen.

Balranald led that game by 55 points early in the last quarter before putting the cue in the rack and should have an easier time of it against a side with an average losing margin of 99 points.

The looming return of club best and fairest Jack Shannon will surely give the Raiders a much-needed shot in the arm, although it will be a couple of weeks yet as he recovers from injury.

Mitchell Christensen has been a revelation since joining Koondrook-Barham and would be leading the Raiders’ best-and-fairest count to this point, while full back Scott Wood has been another impressive pick-up for new coach Will Callow.

Wood will have his hands full opposed to Ben Fuller, who kicked 13 goals in two games against the Raiders last season.

While Balranald will be without Kobe Lloyd (hamstring), they should have more than enough weapons to handle whatever the Raiders throw at them.

Tip – Balranald to win by 60 points.
