Demons aim to lock away finals

NNW UNITED v MALLEE EAGLES

JARROD Stokes and Hassan Ahmat-Watkins will return for Nyah-Nyah West United’s must-win match against the Mallee Eagles.

With the bye next Saturday, the Demons’ finals hopes will rest with securing the four points against a side they beat by 62 points in round 6.

Stokes’ class and Ahmat-Watkins’ forward craft will be welcome additions to a team which overcame Tooleybuc-Manangatang by just 19 points in treacherous conditions last weekend.

However, the home side will also lose Jaydyn Stirling, who broke his scapula in that game, and Ben Shadbolt, due to concussion.

Stirling has been a consistent performer off half-back in recent weeks and his absence will leave a big hole.

The Eagles will come in fresh off the bye and key players Harry Allen, Beau Bennett, Angus McKenzie and Zac O’Meara have all been in good form.

Also helping the visitors will be the expected inclusions of Shaun Harrison, Braidon Bennett and senior coach Brent Sheahan.

If the Eagles can find a way to keep Joel Walsh quiet and accountable, then they could well be in with a chance against a team who play their home ground well.

Tip – NNW United to win by 22 points.
