Kangas’ all-out attack

MALLEE EAGLES v COHUNA KANGAS

COHUNA Kangas will launch an all-out attack against the Mallee Eagles, in potentially their last game in the Central Murray competition.

To keep their slim finals hopes alive, the Kangas will need to do the impossible, with a 180-point win over the Eagles required, provided Lake Boga do as expected and defeat Koondrook-Barham.

The Eagles will regain the services of Paul Davis and Brandon Gardiner for their final match of the home-and-away season, but will lose both Brent Sheahan and Shaun Harrison to injury.

Cohuna will also have one forced change, with Mitchell Treacy replacing Anthony Fagan in the side that defeated Tooleybuc-Manangatang by 113 points last weekend.

While the Kangas will have a significant advantage forward of centre with twin towers Rhys Free (nine goals) and Dylan Johnstone (three) kicking 12 goals between them last weekend, the real battle will be in the middle of the ground.

If they are any chance to bridge 16 percentage points needed to overtake the Demons, Joel Helman, Jack Donat and Jarrod Findlay will have to get their hands on the ball first, which is sure to be easier said than done against an Eagles midfield that contains in-form pair Harry Allen and Beau Bennett.

While the Kangas should get the four points, it will be much closer than they would like, with both teams’ seasons to end come 5pm tomorrow.

Tip – Cohuna Kangas to win by 20 points.
