Table Tennis Notes

ROUND 2 of Swan Hill Table Tennis produced some exciting results, with Bakker & Glen moving to the top of the Beck Legal Ladder with a convincing 7/4 win over Kunat Thunder in A Grade.

Jovenar again won his three singles matches while for the vanquished, Doctor Lachlan Carroll won two.

Violi Finance cemented their second place on the ladder with a smashing 8/3 win over Morpeth Farms.

Up and comer Tayte Tants won two matches and born again superstar Brett Armstrong won all three of his singles matches.

A shattered Glen Evans tried valiantly for his team, but won his sides only two singles rubbers.

R&J Joinery’s Natalie Whateley wound the clock back playing outstanding table tennis, with her clever spin and crunching forehand giving her side the advantage.

But just when all hope looked gone for Pooles Accounting, the unfashionable Michael Shean beat young Joe Pino three sets to two and set up 6/5 win, with his teammates chairing him out of the stadium knowing wins like this don’t come along very often.

Who will be the side to sit on top of the Sharp Fruit B Grade ladder?

The question was answered on Monday night, with newcomer Scott Smith in the driver seat for Swan Hill District Driver Ed with a convincing 7/4 win over Murray Valley Technology Centre.

Shane Threadgold won his usual two matches, but will need support from his teammates.

Syd Wilson Auto Electrics were beaten by Swan Hill Windscreens 6/5, with the large crowd enthralled with the Comitti’s father versus son match, with father Ben beating son Oscar in four tight sets.

The table tennis world was abuzz with Pizza Kitchen’s new signing of Sam Collidge and was a key reason for his team defeating Swan Hill Chemicals 7/4.

The upset of the round was Advanced Packaging defeating PDF Accounting 6/5, with Gayle Williams the stand out for the winners, while Chaz Talboys again won his three singles matches.

We are still looking for two regular B Grade players if anyone would like to come along and have a game.
