Parked in court

THE dispute between Balranald Shire Council and the operators of the Balranald Caravan Park will be heard in a Sydney court this week.

The matter, Balranald Shire Council v Matthew Jess, will be heard in the Supreme Court of New South Wales in Sydney today and tomorrow.

The Court Street caravan park is owned by council, but the Jess’ responsibility lies with the daily operations of the park.

Matt and Dee Jess were the operators of the Balranald Caravan Park for five years, up to 2017, when their contract was extended another two years.

Last year, advisor to the operators, Peter Jess, told The Guardian changes were made to the tender after the Jess’ had submitted the extension of the contract.

Balranald Shire Council general manager Michael Kitzelmann told The Guardian last year the operators weren’t satisfied with the then current terms and conditions of the contract.

He said the operators had not signed the agreement.
