Truck loads of food on offer

TREAT your taste buds to Swan Hill’s first annual food truck festival this weekend.

The three-day event will see local and statewide food trucks set up in Riverside Park from today until Sunday, providing a mix of delicious modern and traditional street food.

Burgers, churros, tacos, donuts, kebabs, crepes and pizzas are some of the delectable items you can try across the weekend.

Event director Hudson Watts said the festival aimed to provide the region with a “much-needed” annual event which injects “urban culture into our sleepy riverside town”.

“I got the idea after attending similar festivals in Melbourne, Bendigo and Echuca and I just thought it would be cool to bring that type of experience to Swan Hill,” Mr Watts said.

Some vendors on offer will include Curry Up Now Food Truck, Frosty Monkeys, Great Texas Smokey BBQ, Ink-Redible Calamari, Rib Crib, Murray Mallee Wood Fired Pizza, Lime & Co Mexican and Twista Sis Spuds.

“Everyone is bringing pretty much everything you can imagine,” Mr Watts said.

Mr Watts said the festival hoped to stimulate the local economy and community groups by bring a wide range of visitors to the town, while local performers and food vendors will also get the chance to showcase their many talents.

“There will be heaps of local musicians performing, local food vendors, kid’s activities, it’s really something that everyone can come down and enjoy,” he said.

The event will begin today at 3pm and go through until Sunday 11pm.
