STAMP OF APPROVAL

A STAMPING group in Swan Hill has donated $5000 to headspace Swan Hill raised through a community event.

Mallee Stampers held their Inspire, Create, Share — Health Headspace event at Swan Hill Club Room last month.

The craft event involved card marking, scrapbooking and rubber stamping.

Stampin’ Up! demonstrator and Mallee Stampers member Cheryl O’Bree said attendees were required to pay a participation fee to participate.

“Some of that registration fee went directly towards headspace (Swan Hill),” Ms O’Bree said.

“Then we had a silent auction, which lots of family friends and Swan Hill businesses donated to.

“Then Murray Mallee Training Company donated $1000 straight up.”

Ms O’Bree said the group also raffled off a crocheted baby rug made by group member Linda Bye.

Mallee Stampers is a group based on the company called Stampin’ Up! – a worldwide rubber stamping company.

“Part of their values is giving back to your communities,’ Ms O’Bree said.

“They give back to everybody, they are amazing how they give back.

“This year, they’re brought out a stamp, that’s every stamp that’s sold in every part of the world, a percentage of that is given back to mental health this year.”

Headspace Swan Hill manager Ian Johansen said the donation would go toward supporting his staff in getting out in the community.

“A big part of what we try to do is to be at events outside of ours, but it can often be difficult to have the resource to help have that presence,” he said.

“We’ve got a strong commitment to being in the regions around us as well.”

Headspace Swan Hill staff recently attended an event in Sea Lake.

“It’ll just help us promote the positive messages around young people supporting their mental health,” Mr Johansen said.

“I think what this represents to me, and I think I said it on the day, we just love how much people care about what we do.

“It’s such a privilege to do it and have your support.”
