Coach services replace trains

TRAIN passengers were forced onto a coach service after a V/Line train collided with a vehicle at a level crossing in Kerang on Saturday night.

Emergency services were called to Wellington Street just after 11pm to find the 6.35pm Melbourne to Swan Hill train clipped a van.

No-one was injured in the incident.

The train terminated at Kerang and continued as a coach service to Swan Hill.

“We would like to thank passengers for their patience while we worked to get them where they needed to be following an incident on the Swan Hill line,” a V/Line spokesperson said.

This caused further disruptions to services yesterday.

The 6.52am train from Swan Hill to Melbourne was replaced by coaches for the entire journey, while the 8am service from Melbourne to Swan Hill ran as a train to Bendigo connecting with coaches to Swan Hill.

Normal services were expected to resume at the time of print.

Victoria Police has been contacted for comment.
