Domino of damage

A 47-YEAR-OLD Tresco woman ploughed her vehicle into a number of parked cars on Campbell Street in Swan Hill on Wednesday.

A six-year-old female passenger was transported to hospital following the incident.

Swan Hill highway patrol Sergeant Les McPhee said the incident happened shortly after 2pm.

“A Holden Statesman was travelling north in the left lane, and has veered and collided with a parked car (a Holden Trax wagon),” Sgt McPhee said.

“She (the driver) has then continued on to hit the rear of another vehicle, which was a Toyota LandCruiser.

“That car (the Toyota LandCruiser) has then moved forward and collided with a parked vehicle which was a Toyota Prado.”

He said the Toyota Prado was then pushed forward into a parked motorcycle.

Sgt McPhee said the driver was treated by ambulance at the scene, while she and her passenger were transported to Swan Hill District Health complaining of soreness following the incident.

Traffic on Campbell Street surrounding the incident was reduced to one lane while police investigated.

Sgt McPhee said the cause of the accident was currently being investigated with charges to the driver “pending”.

Swan Hill CFA captain Dennis Turner said their crew was also on the scene to disconnect the offending vehicle’s battery as a safety precaution.

Meanwhile, two 40-year-old men, from Nyah West, were involved in a two-vehicle collision on Pira Road, Nyah West, at 6pm on Tuesday.

“One vehicle was travelling north and another vehicle has conducted a U-turn in front of the vehicle,” Sgt McPhee said.

He said the vehicle travelling north, carrying a 16-year-old male passenger, collided with the side of the vehicle conducting the U-turn.

Sgt McPhee said the passenger of the other vehicle, a 38-year-old Nyah West woman, was transported to hospital.
