Central Murray and Golden Rivers football and netball season cancelled

THE Central Rivers Board has announced the cancellation of the 2020 football and netball seasons this morning, confirming that there will be no official season for both Central Murray and Golden Rivers leagues.

In a statement this morning, board members said if COVID-19 restrictions were further reduced, a modified season for all grades would be considered.

The financial burden of playing less than half a season, the extra responsibility for volunteers and playing without crowds were some of the reasons the board cited for making the decision to cancel.

A modified competition would be dependent on clubs wanting to play and would be on a voluntary basis.
