Three Malaysian nationals in critical condition after Christmas crash

A MALAYSIAN woman is in a critical condition with severe head injuries after the vehicle she was driving rolled multiple times near Balranald on Christmas Eve.

Emergency services were called to the Sturt Highway, 15km east of Balranald, about 3.50pm on December 24, after a westbound Toyota Prado left the road and rolled multiple times.

The driver, her 47-year-old front-seat passenger, and a 25-year-old woman in the back seat sustained critical injuries.

Passers-by – including an off-duty doctor – rendered assistance until emergency services arrived.

The driver was flown by helicopter to The Alfred hospital in Melbourne with severe head injuries.

A hospital spokesperson on Sunday told The Guardian the woman was still in a critical condition.

The two adult passengers were flown by separate fixed aircraft to Royal Melbourne Hospital.

Police have been told the older woman has severe head injuries, while the younger woman is described as being in a critical condition.

A two-year-old girl, who was travelling in a child restraint in the back seat, escaped with scratches and is being cared for at Balranald hospital.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
