Tooleybuc hosts kids golf day

THE Tooleybuc Sporting Club golf course, in collaboration with Nyah West Golf Club, will host its first Junior Golf Tournament next month. The Under-18s tournament is at Tooleybuc on Friday, April 12, starting at 10.30am, after breakfast.

There are $3600 worth of prizes and vouchers awarded for winners in several categories.

There are two divisions, for handicap players and non handicap players.

Tooleybuc Sporting Club chief executive John Cameron hopes the tournament will get more young people in the community interested in golf.

“It’s a great outdoor sport where you can get to meet a wide diversity of interesting people,” Mr Cameron said.

“We’ve got people who’ve been playing here for years, so it is a lifetime sport.”

Mr Cameron said the past year has been successful for the club as they saw their membership double.

The club also took home its first Summer Pennant in 30 years.

“Last weekend, we’ve had the biggest turnout of men joining in for our men’s Sunday competition,” Mr Cameron said.

“Golf is continuing to grow at an extraordinary rate at the Tooleybuc Golf Club, and now we can offer more services to our members.”

The new services at the golf club include golf cart hire, club hire, a new Par 3 course as well as an extended course to open in April.

To enter the competition, which costs, $25, register online via the club’s website.

Mini golf entry will also be available on the night from 5pm for $15.
