The Murray River weaves it way through the heart of the region, and as a result there are some incredible fishing spots to be discovered. Ned’s corner and Loch’s 7 and 9 are popular but if it’s seclusion you’re after then head to Pental Island, 20 minutes from the CBD. Peace and tranquility awaits you.

The Swan Hill boat ramp, located just north of the towns centre, is often a meeting place for anglers, head there for a friendly chat and to snag some fishing tips.

The iconic Murray cod can be caught in the areas waterways, anglers from all over the country flock to the region in the hope of reeling one of Australia’s prized native fish. Murray cod commonly range in size from 5-22kg.

Other fish include the unruly European carp, redfin which have been caught to 2.5kg and good numbers of silver perch to 5kg. Silver perch, along with the freshwater catfish, are protected species.

Tench and some golden perch to 2kg can be found as well as the Murray spiny crayfish however, these are scarce.
