Fundraiser helps those in need

VETERANS will be hitting the street and rattling their fundraising tins in a bid to raise much-needed funds.

Members of the Swan Hill and District Vietnam Veterans Sub-Branch will be in Swan Hill, Nyah, Cohuna, Kerang, Koondrook, Barham, Balranald and Kerang during their annual Badge Week, with funds going towards welfare needs for veterans and their families.

This year also marks the 50th anniversary of Australia’s involvement in the Vietnam war and a special commemorative pin will be available to purchase.

Sub-branch president Harold Heslop said the week-long collection was their main welfare fundraiser for the year.

“Residents from this area have been very generous with their support in the past and we are hoping that generosity will continue again this year,” Mr Heslop said.
